Stop Dogs From Barking

The world has changed over the past few years, with more people having to work shift work and often have to get rest during the day and are looking for dog barking solutions, if stopping neighbour dogs from barking is a sensitive area. However, if this is your problem it would be advisable to go about this in a diplomatic way nothing is really achieved by showing any signs of anger or frustration.

Stop Neighbour dog barking  can be a sensitive area and to be approached with caution, if you upset your neighbour then this will achieve nothing.

A friend of mine works nights and has this problem of a barking dog, due to lack of sleep approached this in a very aggressive way and what's more, it made the situation even worse. The fact is if he was aware of the reasons why dogs bark then, the situation could have been resolved sooner rather than later.

The one thing you must avoid at all cost is to lose control of your emotions and upset the dog owners, this will achieve nothing in order to stop dogs from barking and you will probably make the situation worse. If you can think laterally for a moment, and try to understand why the dog is barking then you have a fighting chance of reaching a solution.

It is a natural function for a dog to bark it’s a form of communication. After all many people have a dog for protection, when the dog barking it is a way of gaining your attention, but that is not much help when you are upsetting the people that live close by.

How do you stop a dog from barking?

In lots of cases a dog barking is not just to protect you there are many other reasons to of course. How to stop a dog from barking is something you will have to evaluate. In order to solve the problem you have to establish why he is barking continuously.

Ask yourself this question

Is there a dog close by that he does not get on with?

If there is this is a common problem, in this case he is trying to establish his territory, or show that he is the most dominant

Dogs are like humans, you must have come across the person that never stops talking. In lots of cases that person deep down is feeling a little insecure, and that is why they tend to talk too much.

Another reason that dogs bark is to when they want food, or water, or maybe if they are house trained need to go outside to relieve their selves.

Here are some good tips to how to stop a dog from barking.

When a there is a barking dog that's annoying you, the worst thing you can do is to respond by raising your voice, this will only make things worse. Another reaction is to give him a tit bit or something to nibble on to stop the dog from barking. When he has finished with the tit bit he will start off again. You have to make your dog understand that barking is not acceptable.

A good tip is, when your dog starts to bark, do not respond. If the telephone or door bell rings make sure there is a delay before you respond. This will assure the dog that all is okay and there is no need to bark.

A good friend of mine when he was experimenting with his barking dog, he would to jump up and ring the door bell frequently to show his dog there was no need to bark. The dog became so used to the door, or the phone ringing at that point he lost interest and felt no need to bark, this is a really effective way to silence barking dogs.

Does Your dog bark at the moon?

When I first heard about this situation I found it hard to believe however, after researching the subject it seems to be quite a common behavior pattern.

The trick is to divert his attention from the moon to something else. A dog trainer friend of mine showed me a way to stop my dog barking not just at the moon, but in other situations.

This may sound a little extreme but he purchased a water pistol, not a powerful one just enough to divert his attention away from the moon. He would hide somewhere in the garden and every time he barked at the moon he would squirt the gun.

If in the case the dog was inside barking at the moon he would hide behind the settee or chair. When he told me this I really thought he was joking, but trust me it really is very effective.

A further trick was to fill a tin can full of small stones,  use them to grab his attention. It is important not to gain eye contact while you are doing it, other wise he will see this as a game. And he may think by barking at the moon could produce attention and want to play a game.

If you are getting complaints from your neighbors that your dog is barking when you are not at home. A good tip is to make sure he or she has plenty of toys to play with, and of water to drink. When you arrive home don’t make a fuss of him until he has calmed down, that way he will understand that barking is not acceptable and also is a very effective way to stop barking dogs
